1. Letting people go when they are no longer a fit with your organization.

One of the biggest challenges business owners often find is in letting people go when they no longer fit with the organization. Whether the company changes or the people do….when there is no longer a match - people need to move to a better position or out of the organization completely. Whatever the situation, take direct action to resolve people issues such as these in order to avoid a downward production spiral that can be costly over time. If someone needs to move on, it is in their best interest and your best interest to do so. Your organization can find the right person to fit that spot. There are many success cases where wonderful new people were located and where the person being let go, found a better situation as well. In the end we must always do what is best for our organization.

I recently heard a comment from an associate’s friend that made me realize that there are so many people that really have no idea what it takes to have a successful web site. Her simple comment “Anybody can build a web site!” made me think that maybe what I spend countless hours researching and executing before I pass it on to my clients is really basic high school fun. Maybe she is correct. With today’s countless open source projects, anybody can build a web site.. But, what she didn’t realize is that in the world of business, “Time is Money,” We don’t all have a lot of time to spend figuring out the intricate details of creating a web site. And once a site is up and running what good does it do us if we don’t have anybody visiting our site, purchasing our products, or hiring us for our services. This would mean that we have taken on the great task of “Working for our Web Site.” We must now pay for the cost of time that we spent to build it, the cost of purchasing domain names and hosting. I, myself, would rather spend my money on other products, or make sure my money is well spent. My ultimate goal is teaching “YOU” how to make your web site “work for you”.

Winning Google: The Basics

It is my goal to show every business how they, too, can get to the top of Google. Do you even know what your Google Rank is or how you would find it? Have you asked yourself where you should start your Google Adventure?

It requires beginning with small steps, and systematically moving in the right direction.

Let’s start with a few pertinent questions about your web site:
·    Do you know what your keywords are?
·    Do you know how many keywords you have?
·    Do you know how many people search for your specific keywords every month?
·    Do you know what the odds are of your business being found using “your” chosen keywords are.

Each week I will be sharing information that will give you the capability to answer all these questions. And you will do it by using tools that Google provides - and all of them are FREE.

The tool I will be addressing in this issue is the Google Adsense Keyword tool. AdSense is an agreement involving Google providing advertising services to its partners and then sharing revenues with them.
Initially the Adsense Keyword tool was created to put a “per-click” value on keywords that you could use to evaluate your google adsense account. We can take this same tool and give our web site keywords the same global value. It puts some science into the search engine optimization (SEO) game. There are never guarantees with SEO, but if you know what you are doing and you have a drive to reach the top, anything is possible!

Above and beyond the Hospital Birth Announcement

Ok I don't know how many of you have found that the traditional birth announcement that they offer you in the hospital is not only not attractive but not affordable as well.
I have had a recent baby explosion in my family (all grandchildren and nieces and nephews) and with our first grandchild we purchased the hospital announcement at an irrational amount of money, when our announcement arrived they were less than expected.
So I did some research using all of my business connections and discovered I can get a high quality, high gloss, post card sized announcement that let me use "any image" of my little bundle and put it in a post card sized announcement. So not only did a get a beautiful birth announcement, but it cost alot less to mail post cards that that traditional cute card in an envelope. So basically I saved money on a much better product.

I wanted to pass not only the idea on to everybody, but I put a version of these on my web site. Because of my connections with a local printer, this is my cost including what it would cost to ship to almost anywhere in the United States. I hope to add some more designs in the coming days so you have more layouts to choose from, but I hope this improves your brand new babies announcement as it did for my family

While I was researching this week, I ran across and Open Source Shopping Cart that claimed to have it all. I specialize in setting up these shopping carts so when I found this one, I was so excited. I couldn't wait to get it set up and master some templates for it.
After 3 days of setting this thing up 3 times, I discovered that not all open source is exactly what it claims to be. I think I would rather stick with my trusted Zen Cart. I can't find even one thing to say about Zen Cart that isn't a praise.

This week I won't be posting any specials or any new templates, or any new products. I learned some interesting information this week and I would like to share it with you.
I have many clients where I not only build there web sites, but I also promote them by using various proven methods as well as some of my own creative methods. I do this by watching carefully to what others do to promote similar web sites, or products. I have in the past run across many companies that are out to make the mighty dollar by telling uninformed clients information that just isn't true and then they charge them for this untruth.
I have been watching a specific company that does exactly what I do and have always loved their methods and respected their values, but this week I wondered about this one.
"We offer web sites for $25.00" Complete with graphics, set up by our professional team of programmers. You get professional customization for your site at this one low cost."
I wondered how they were able to do this so I clicked on the link that went to their site. Now keep in mind I have watch this company for years and have always known them to be very professional and very ethical. I clicked on the page that promoted the $25.00 professionally designed web site. Turns out they were really promoting their hosting plan that offers a build your own web site on it. The $25.00 was for the set up of the hosting account (this is a normal price), and then when the account is set up, you get to build your own web site, with their web site builder. I don't know how many of you have tried to set up one of these web sites, with web builder, but they can be a little confusing and hard to manipulate. If your hosting company is willing to help you manipulate the system for the price of their hosting and the price of the set up, I agree this is a great deal and I would love for you to sign me up as well, but in fine print at the bottom, it states *** There is an extra fee for support and design of your web builder. Please contact us if you need assistance setting up your web site.

Ok that just killed the $25.00 web site. So here is my offer of the week. If you choose to host with CD&D, I too will set up your hosting, but for $19.99 set up fee, $9.99/month for our Business Basic Plan, and educational support in setting up your web site using our online web builder. I won't set up your web site for you, but I will give you the best phone support and e-mail support on how you can build your own web site. So I guess my offer is this "Complete Web Site for 19.99 Set up" but honestly, you still have to build the web site yourself.
In closing this week, I have to ask, is our economy so bad that normal, honest, hard working companies, now have to use questionable practices to sell their products. Please let me know when I reach this point.
