The Economy and Search Engine Optimization
For the week of June 23 - 27This week I won't be posting any specials or any new templates, or any new products. I learned some interesting information this week and I would like to share it with you.
I have many clients where I not only build there web sites, but I also promote them by using various proven methods as well as some of my own creative methods. I do this by watching carefully to what others do to promote similar web sites, or products. I have in the past run across many companies that are out to make the mighty dollar by telling uninformed clients information that just isn't true and then they charge them for this untruth.
I have been watching a specific company that does exactly what I do and have always loved their methods and respected their values, but this week I wondered about this one.
"We offer web sites for $25.00" Complete with graphics, set up by our professional team of programmers. You get professional customization for your site at this one low cost."
I wondered how they were able to do this so I clicked on the link that went to their site. Now keep in mind I have watch this company for years and have always known them to be very professional and very ethical. I clicked on the page that promoted the $25.00 professionally designed web site. Turns out they were really promoting their hosting plan that offers a build your own web site on it. The $25.00 was for the set up of the hosting account (this is a normal price), and then when the account is set up, you get to build your own web site, with their web site builder. I don't know how many of you have tried to set up one of these web sites, with web builder, but they can be a little confusing and hard to manipulate. If your hosting company is willing to help you manipulate the system for the price of their hosting and the price of the set up, I agree this is a great deal and I would love for you to sign me up as well, but in fine print at the bottom, it states *** There is an extra fee for support and design of your web builder. Please contact us if you need assistance setting up your web site.
Ok that just killed the $25.00 web site. So here is my offer of the week. If you choose to host with CD&D, I too will set up your hosting, but for $19.99 set up fee, $9.99/month for our Business Basic Plan, and educational support in setting up your web site using our online web builder. I won't set up your web site for you, but I will give you the best phone support and e-mail support on how you can build your own web site. So I guess my offer is this "Complete Web Site for 19.99 Set up" but honestly, you still have to build the web site yourself.
In closing this week, I have to ask, is our economy so bad that normal, honest, hard working companies, now have to use questionable practices to sell their products. Please let me know when I reach this point.
